Who we are

We are a missionary organization composed of Christians of various nationalities, denominations and backgrounds.

We believe that we are called to walk in the spiritual path of the early Church – the Church before the divisions, that was still closely connected to the time of the Apostles. The inheritance and the teachings of the early Church, of the early fathers, and the desert fathers and mothers, have become – by God’s grace – rich wells of living water for us, quenching our spiritual thirst, bringing us deep transformation, and leading us to know and experience God as the Holy Trinity in a more complete and deeper way.

Our origin and history

The pioneers of this walk were Egyptian Christians who were called by God from the 1970s onward to live a consecrated life as celibate Brothers and Sisters in full devotion to the Lord Jesus, guided by the teachings and examples of the early fathers of the church.

The Lord blessed their efforts with manifold spiritual fruits and awakened in many children of God in the East and West the desire to live a life that is set apart for the Lord, whether in celibacy or in marriage, and to become a living testimony of God’s grace and love in our generation. 

What does this walk
mean for us?

Walking in the path of the early Church and the early fathers means for us:

  1. Entering into the mysteries of God as the Holy Trinity and the mysteries of His Kingdom through liturgical worship, for example by praying the Psalms, being immersed in God’s Word, and praying the Jesus Prayer;
  2. Being set apart and consecrated to God by living holy, humble, and obedient lives according to God’s commandments, inspired by the examples and teachings of the early fathers (Titus 2:14);
  3. Striving for steady spiritual growth with the clear purpose of Christ being fully formed in us, so that we may be able to say: ‘It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me’ (Galatians 2:20);
  4. Cultivating an unceasing spiritual hunger for deeper communion with God by abstaining from earthly comforts, worldly pleasures, distractions, and entertainment (1 Peter 2:11);
  5. Exercising ascetic disciplines that enable us to escape the slavery of sin and to work out our salvation in synergy with the Holy Spirit (Philippians 2:12);
  6. Dying to the self, daily (Luke 9:23), so that we may know Him and experience the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10);
  7. Becoming a living image of Christ (Romans 8:29) in order to proclaim His salvation to the world and extend God’s Kingdom;
  8. Uniting the rich spiritual heritage of the East and the West, and overcoming cultural imprints and barriers to regain the full knowledge of the truth and the one faith;
  9. Acquiring a wide and broadened heart that would embrace all of God’s children, so that Christ’s Church, both East and West, may become one as it was during the times of the Apostles and the early Church.

What we believe

  1. We believe in God the Holy Trinity, God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and God the Holy Spirit, according to the Nicene Creed shared by all churches (see below).
  2. We believe that God is the Creator and that His creation is good as He is good. We believe that corruption and sin have invaded this creation, but that God has not abandoned the world to destruction. He loves the world and has saved it (John 3:16). Judgment in this life is not for punishment, but a means of correction, cleansing, or restoration. Christ died and was risen to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Hebrews 9:26) and to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). Through His resurrection the new creation has begun. It will be completed with His return (Revelation 21:5), the time of the restoration of all things (Acts 3:21), when He will put all things in order.
  3. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. It is the utterance of the infinite God, bearing in it His unlimited mind. As such, the Word of God is full of mysteries and beyond intellectual understanding. It is the brightly shining lamp of truth that enables us to discern, amid increasing deception and confusion, the fallen form of the world and our generation, and exposes what is alien to God and His Kingdom. It so illuminates and guides our path with ultimate authority in all areas of life. When read and received with a kindled spirit, it performs a mystical work of true transformation into Christlikeness in the believer.
  4. We believe in the wisdom and value of the spiritual convictions and teaching of the early Church and her apostolic heritage. 
  5. We believe that God urgently calls His Church today to leave her worldly ways and to return to Him as we are moving faster and faster towards the end.
  6. We believe that the early Church has the answers and solutions to the questions and problems of the Church of the end times.

Creed

I believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
Maker of Heaven and Earth
and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Son of God,
the only-begotten,
begotten of the Father before all ages.
Light of light;
true God of true God;
begotten, not made;
of one essence with the Father,
by Whom all things were made;
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven,
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate,
and suffered, and was buried.
And the third day He arose again,
according to the Scriptures, and ascended into Heaven,
and sits at the right hand of the Father;
and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead;
Whose Kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord,
the Giver of Life,
Who proceeds from the Father;
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;
Who spoke by the prophets.

In one Holy,
Catholic,
and Apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

Our mission and calling

Until we all reach oneness in the faith
and in the knowledge of the Son of God,
growing spiritually to become a mature believer,
reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ.

Christ’s work and the mission of the Church today

We believe that Christ’s work today – as it has always been – is that of continuous and ultimate restoration. He calls His Church to work with Him to restore:

  • the lost, the unbelievers,
  • the children of God to a life worthy of the gospel of Christ (Philippians 1:27),
  • the correct vision of the Kingdom of God,
  • the unity of the Church across denominations and time. 

On this basis, the Church of Christ today urgently needs to:

  • get ready to face the specific challenges and temptations of the end times and understand the distinct end-time economies of God and the enemy of man, and
  • be reunited as the one Bride of Christ, prepared for and awaiting His second coming.

Our calling

To meet these needs we believe that we are called by the Holy Spirit: 

  1. To dig up the buried wells of the rich spiritual inheritance of the early Church from before the division of the Church; 
  2. To allow these wells to become springs of living water in our lives and to draw deeply from the spiritual riches of the early Church fathers and the desert fathers and mothers;
  3. To pass on this rich inheritance to our generation as experience and life, and not as mere teaching or knowledge;
  4. Thus, to equip and enable the believers to grow into the full measure of Christ (Christlikeness) and into a deep communion with the Holy Trinity;
  5. To contribute in this way to the restoration of the one faith in the Body of Christ; and
  6. By this, we can move towards the unity of the Church of God, as one body and one bride of Christ, uniting the East and West, and the Jews who will come to Christ [the Bride/Church of Christ will consist of Jews and Gentiles as it began in the apostolic age—for more details refer to the book: The Bride & the End Times].
